I think I was scammed

I had 2 young men come to my door to sell magazines and try to win a trip, so I gave them w checkes. One each for magazines.
WELL, I even let them pet a chin and that makes me mad they scammed me.

I went on line after they left and all signs point to a scam.... I went on line to my bank, cancelled the checks and monday I will be going to get new account info I guess..... Means I will have to redo everything that has bank info I guess. The place I wrote the check to was Tower of Power. I am smarter then that, and it seemed sincere, but I just dont know

I am a very untrusting person at times, but what makes you think you were scammed? I would play it safe as well, but what made you suspicious?

From what I googled it does look like it could be a scam. That is just a shame, it is not even safe to buy girl scout cookies anymore, sheesh!

Sorry I came in here to try to post something about scams and whatnot, but this post got me thinking about Girl Scout Cookies. Mmmmm...

That's why I never buy anything from someone that goes door to door.

Yummy, here the scouts only sells boring calender, If they had coockie I would be more tempted.

Girl scout/guide cookies must be sold much differently in the US than in Canada. Here it would be rather difficult to mistake the box and the little girls in uniform going door to door with parents waiting at the end of the driveway. :laughitup:

I think I was scammed because I too googled it and I checked with the BBB and the site says it isnt a registered company, it uses 3-4 company names, and it is listed as closed....I am not sure it was entirely a scam, but I want to be safe, I sent the cancellation form in and I cancelled the checks.

I will speak to my bank Monday and ask them if I need to close the acct or if they can just switch some numbers.

Yes I agree, I think it's ashame people do that, because you want to help out when you can, but these days you just don't know what's real and what's a scam.
