so the other day, i go to buy my boyfriends ferret nation cage from my local petsmart, for his birthday present...well i get to the check out line and the manager tells me he can not price match the kennelvet.com paper........

i told him you all have price matched it before and he goes on saying that they can only price match from petsmart.com....so i got mad and left...

well today i went and looked up the online price match and it clearly says that they will price match any competitors prices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so i called back today and it happened to be the same guy ha, well i told him this and he continued to say he didnt know why it said that , that its been that way since he has worked there..so i hung up on him and called corporates number in phoenix, i was told that he should have price matched it and that they will be contacting him to question why he didnt do it...i asked the lady , being that my boyfriends birthday is sunday. i said if i go in there with pricematch policy if he calls you all will you say that he has to price match it? she told me yes, so tomorrow im going up there and i intend on leaving with my cage...lol
 
If something this small makes you furious, you better invest in some happy pills for the truly serious issues in your future. This isn't a big deal at all. It's just a misunderstanding. You don't know what the guy at the store was told. For all you know, that's what his boss told him.

No big deal. Just go get your cage and the crisis is over.
 
Whenever you try to perform a price match regardless of where it is best to print out or bring the original competitors regularly priced item with you. Make sure the ad or the print out has the date on it.

ferret.com offers the cage for 199.99 w/ like ~6 dollar shipping. While kennelvet.com offers it for 180~ w/ 45~ dollars shipping. Some stores often have a policy to include the shipping as part of the price. I've never run into that with Petco/Petsmart before.

I watched a news special that said the same thing as above.......always bring the whole ad and the printed price match policy with you! good luck.
 
im not as furious as i made it sound, im not lunging and screaming lol but i am very mad...because i know im rite and he refuses to give me the cage so he got reported to corporate, and im bringing in the price match policy and the kennelvet paper.... i will tell him to call corporate if he has a problem with it...and yes it is cage rage!! ferret nations are like children !!! AHHHHHHHHH jk lol
 
Deep breaths... It'll be okay. Just don't expect anything from them and it will be alright. Stay calm...don't yell...you can just be overly kind and friendly to the point of being condescending. :D

haha, that's what my mom does! she is the nicest women you will ever meet and she uses that to her advantage. i can't tell you how many times i go shopping with her and she'll argue with a store employee or manager but will speak in the calmest tone and she always gets her way! its great :laughitup:

Remember they can refuse to sell you anything. So dont get your panties in a twist and looking for a fight because any business has the right to refuse service. And also remember you shop there.. Dont go in there looking like a fool because those same people will see you and be like "Thats the crazy lady" and no one will ever want to help you. Keep your cool and your class and dont stress over something stupid.
 
i dislike my petsmart - just because they constantly will say things to get out of changing a price. i once went to buy a bird "playtop" for my bird until my dad could make one himself. i go to the register, it rings up 29.99, I state that the shelf is marked 14.99. they go over look. tell me all 8 on the shelf are in the wrong place, and i tell them that they still have to give me the price, as they stocked/priced them incorrectly. they tell me thats not a "petsmart" policy. i agreed with them and told them they are correct its not a petsmart policy, its a basic retail rule. they still refused, so i just left without.

when i went to get my ferret nation 2 weeks ago, i went with an online pricematch ad, plus their websites printed out policy stating they price match any retailers online reg price. when i showed them the ad from kennelvet - the manager smiled, and corrected me saying they do not price match online prices. i smiled, took their policy out of my bag, and read it to him he took it from me - read it. he tried to make the excuse that it only applied to some stores, told him if he wasnt going to follow his corp. policy id gladly call corp for him as he was in the wrong. so he said fine, but its still not their policy. what irritated me most was his flat out lie, then lie when proven wrong. i am an assistant manager for petco, and will go to my fullest to make a customer happy and follow all our policies correctly without lying to them.
 
oh , i know tomorrow he is going to give me problems if its the same guy, i saved corporates number in my phone, ill gladly call them FOR HIM lol...they told me to go in there with the paper and he has to price match it
 
SOOO....today i went in there to get my cage, with kennelvet paper and the policy paper..the same manager who gave me problems knew it was me so he didnt say anything, he walked to the office and talked to the other manager...he proceded to tell me that he didnt know if they could price match it and i told him about my previous incident with the other manager and how i talked to corporate and i was told it has to be price matched, that it is in fact a legit(sp?) thing...

he tells me that he will need to call his personal corporate manager and to leave my name and number and he would call me back...i hesitated for the fact that i needed the cage NOW lol...i nicely asked how long it would take being that i drove 30 minutes from my city to theres to get this cage and i had nothing to do to wait around for this woman to call back. so i left and went to the mall, he called back in about 10 minutes and i was told that his corporate manager said due to the LARGE amount for the price match he couldnt do it but he could sell me the cage for 200 and give me a 25 dollar gift card...honestly i wasnt happy with that but because i had NO other option i took the offer... them price matching it to 200 didnt take of much at all...and i didnt want the gift card because i dont buy anything from petsmart except ferret nations and im done buying them....i would have much rathered them take that 25 off also but my boyfriend said they did that to make me come back to the store..because i wasnt well pleased with them at all.....because i was told opposite before i went in there..

so when i got home i called coporate again and told them everything,THIS TIME i was told that it is to the discretion of the corporate person that manages that store...yesterday i was NOT informed of that when i talked to them..but need be i got my boyfriends cage, now im dead broke because i was only planning on spending 130ish out of pocket, instead i spend 180ish out of pocket...uggg

MEN ARE EXPENSIVE AND ARE A PAIN IN THE BEHIND!!!!!!!!!!LOL
 
That sucks sorry. Though I can't see how they can have a company policy that can be changed per store if the manager on duty does not feel like following it. It no where states in their policy online "at managers disgression". I personally wouldn't have settled and recalled Corp back while I waited for the manager - who knows quite well all he has to do is type in an override code. Then if you spoke to a person who said managers choice - I'd just keep asking for supervisors until the right thin is done. :)

my mom said i should have told them that i would tell everyone how they did not follow the correct policy that is stated ONLINE for everyone to read!!! but i had to get the cage and that was the only deal i was walking away with...i hate petsmart.................................
 
you may be able to swap/sell your store card with someone who buys things from that store.I'm a real penny pincher but it would also be a nice gift for someone too!!:thumbsup:
