So the college I'm going to in August allows chinchillas as pets in the dorms. With as small as they are, I honestly don't know how I'm going to fit both cages and myself plus a possible roommate (I've applied for a suite but we'll see) comfortably. This isn't one of those situations where someone goes to college and can't keep their chins. If I leave them. my mom will take care of the girls but I'm just wondering how chins typically handle being moved into smaller cages. It would be two on top, two on bottom.

I was wondering the same thing. Right now Luna has a double CN all to herself. I eventually want to rescue another girl, and I don't want to risk fights so I would keep them separate. I was on the fence because I didn't want Luna to not have enough space with just one level. At least now I know that when the opportunity to add another chin arises, I don't have to worry about the cage!

My bonded pair of males has been together their whole lives, and have never fought until the other night. I have a feeling it is because I am home on winter break and they only have a single level instead of their usual double. I think they got into a little argument and couldn't get away as easily as they normally can. Just something to think about. They are fine now, so I think any chin could adjust but mine definitely prefer the space and the love to chase eachother all around the double unit for fun
