My new baby chin Josie has a set of Super Pets Tropical Fiddlesticks (photo) that I use as a ramp on the bottom level of her cage. I'm wondering what is the best way to clean it? She doesn't chew on it much but she does run up and down on it all the time, so naturally it gets pooped on a lot. Thanks!

You could scrub it down with hot, soapy water, rinse really well and set it out in the sun to dry. The colors will probably run on it a bit, but that would be a good way to clean it. Or, if you don't want to set it in the sun, you could bake it in the oven at 250° for 10 to 20 minutes to dry it out.

if the poops are getting stuck/smooshed on it, then i would be more worried about digestive issues with your chin than cleaning off the wood.

i also have a fiddlesticks type hut, and my boys are on top of it all the time. never had poop stuck to it. do however, get poops wedged in between the logs. i use a stiff brush to get them out, and there is no poop residue after at all, as the poops are dry (as they should be, never smooshy).

I'm with Susan, when I clean wood stuffs in the cage (such as huts) I usually soak a few minutes in warm water then us a scrub brush (have one JUST for this purpose) to get the debris off...then sun dry/bake dry...I also add a bit of white vinegar to the soak to sanitize.

Vinegar is what I like to soak my wooden objects in with hot water. But just a little vinegar to water (I can't remember the ratio) I usually just eyeball it when I do it. Then I scrub the wood and let it sun dry. Similar process to everyone else.
