im NOT looking to rush into anything, and this wasnt even my idea!

last night, my husband (who was kinda against getting varg) was sitting by his cage, giving him scratches... and he randomly says "babe... i think we need another little buddy... can we? i like the violet ones." it was such a surprise!! i told him we really have to give him time to adjust, and become comfortable with not only us, with his new surroundings, as its only been two weeks... but i believe ive also heard that the younger they are (4 months currently) the easier it is to intro a new chin.

what are everyones thoughts on this?

How long have you have Varg for? I would wait at least a month before bringing any new chinchillas into the house. Also keep in mind that you will need to practice quarantine with a new chinchilla. So you will need a second cage to be set up in a separate room for the new chinchilla for 30 days.

weve only had him for 2 weeks. i was even thinking waiting for 3 months or so, just to make sure hes comfy and settled. quarantine would DEFINITELY be done.. we only want the best :)

I think two chins in one cage is the best, my pair looks so cute huddled together. I think if your head is in the right frame of mind (i.e. willing to take on a bit more financials and have enough time for both), and you do the quarantine, go for it. Be prepared if they dont get along, even so It's not bad to have two separate chins!

I agree with the others, after a couple more months of bonding and such I would deffinately get Varg a friend.
