I was doing some research on catnip, as I wanted to know why it had such an effect on cats. In my search, I have found that there is human use for the nip as well. Either in tea, or pill form. But..it has the opposite effect on us. While we all know what it does for cats, it can be used by humans as a stress reliever. Here is an article on it.

My Mom and I used herbs as baby shower gifts recently and were reading about the catnip. It's from the mint family so it acts similar. I have some growing now :)

Dunno, but it like if it really had an effect on humans, it would have been outlawed... can't have people running around all stress-free ;)

Not mild stress relievers. There is a difference between taking pills like Vicodin or Zantex to relieve your stress compared to herbal remedies. Herbal are natural safe ways to make you feel better. Here are some other herbs.

Ginseng

Ginseng has so many curative effects on people. One of which is to restore the nervous system. This is especially helpful after you just came from a difficult time or an illness.Chamomile

Chamomile

Chamomile is known for its calming effects. If you are having one stressful day, a cup of chamomile tea before going to sleep will get you in a Zen mood.

Lemon Balm

Lemon balm tea can help relieve muscular aches and can help reduce tension as well.

Schisandra

This herb is beneficial in relieving headaches and dizziness and preventing insomnia to help you get your much needed sleep.

A stressful life is priceless. With the help of these herbs, you can achieve that serene and fuss-free life that you are dreaming of.

Can't outlaw everything that has an effect on humans, if that were the case vitamins, proteins, and minerals could be outlawed. There are always healthy ways to treat yourself, just use a little bit of nature!

(of course i have to take some human made stuff, not bashing medical technology)

But the catnip thing is defiantly cool! I always wondered how it affected humans!
