My dad is pretty good with wood so he made this :)

It's very creative Steve, and it looks great, but it's not super safe. The bars are pretty close together, and if he should jump or twist while in an upward or downward motion, his leg could slip between the slats. Many a chin has been injured by this type of ladder, which is why we all recommend against them being used. They end up with their leg stuck, they fight it, and then break the leg. A break is rarely "minor" and most times results in leg amputation.

If dad could make the spaces wider apart it would be safer.

I'm on it!
thx for the warning.

Looks great ! With a nice piece of wood behind the slats, it would make a greay chin rampo! you could sell them! wanna make one wider and high enough for the second level of an fn142? haha

That's a good thought - putting a pice of wood behind it. He'd still be able to climb it, but his leg wouldn't be able to slide through.

if you were to make these available with flat backings in a variety of lengths, i would totally buy one. i currently just use a length of shelf as a ramp for my chin to get back into the cage. while watching her slide when she loses traction is hilarious, she'd probably appreciate the better grip the bars would give her.

all you have to do is nail a small block of wood every few inches, you could even use apple sticks or whatever sticks you give you chin. sometimes when i have ordered wood sellers send thicker than my chins prefer, so if you have some of those laying around???for that matter you could probably use elmers glue but a small tack nail is safer.
