I have one of those straw houses for my chin. She goes into it to sleep. I am presently using Care Fresh but will soon switch to pine bedding.

Should there be some kind of nesting material inside her house? The house came with some kind of fibers inside of it. I was afraid that she would eat it so I took it out.

I have a hedgehog who sleeps inside a big plastic house with fleece strips inside. She snuggs up tight as a bug.

Do chinchillas need fleece inside their houses?

No, I don't really think they need a nesting material in their hidey houses. I've never given them anything extra. And besides, for my girls (when I did have houses in their cages) they would push all the shavings out from inside their house.

all the chins (rescues and my personal) that I have had on aspen or carefresh do the same thing, dig it out of their hidey house. So I agree with Alli, don't worry about it. Maddie also tries to "dig" the fleece out from her hidey house... that doesn't work so well

I put fleece pillows in all of my boys' hidey houses, and only 2 liked the pillow in there. The others would not go in the house to sleep as long as the pillow was in there, though.

Yeah mine too. I think they enjoy the cool feeling under their bellies

I have either a folded up fleece baby blanket or a fleece bed in all the boys' hidey houses. They also have stuffed fleece pillows. My boys like to be really their fleece bedding apparently. I also have this little red fleece pillow on one of the ledges and Pip absolutely loves this thing. =)

Thanks. I think he likes this pillow so much b/c it's soft and it's quite flat too. He doesn't seem as attached to the other pillows I have that are thick and kinda lumpy. When he lays flat like that I call him my Pancake Pippy. :))

LOL....mine too.....and they look irriated that I even put it in there to top it off. How dare I....hee hee....I have one that as soon as she see's it she goes in and starts flinging it out....she uses her front paws and puts them together like a scoop so she can shovel more faster and even gets her back legs in on the action kicking it out....she looks soooo mad at me but it is so funny to watch. We play a game sometimes where i push a little in and she throws it out.....she gets so into it she not only moves it out of her house she moves it into a corner of her cage. Its funny....
