I, no I mean Jeff and I, just got our first pair of chins...after almost 5 years of wanting and lusting over them. We adopted 2, I'm sure the most incredible, beautiful beige boys ever, from Susan at AZChins on Sunday.
The story is sweet and a major success story. We carried these boys around for about 2 hours at Susan's while we talked about all the little intricacies of being new chin parents and providing a safe and stimulating enviornment for our new little guys. Eventually we let them get into their travel cage and signed the adoption contract loaded up all the supplies that we would need for quite some time, and (after getting the truck unlocked that I accidently locked while rolling up the windows to turn on the A/C,) an hour later headed home with our babies.
One of the things I mentioned to Susan that we needed as far as adaptability of our chins, was being able to travel with them without stressing them out...and Mason and Chipper did fantastic! They slept, they chewed, they ate, they slept! By time we got home, it was nightfall and when I brought the boys inside, it was time for play.

They immediatly made the biggest mess...welcome to chin-ownership, right? I can feel you sympathy already.

There they are. I miss them so much! I'm glad that they are happy and doing well.

Mason isn't acting lonely is he? He needs to be spoken to a lot and told how adorable he is as needed. I used to pick him up and hold him in a pouch every day, he'd bounce in there on my hip. It was sad because today because I realized that he really is gone.

Please love on those little boys, they are wonderful in every way. They're totally worth clogging up the vacuum with hay.

It is great you got some chins! Not just birds for you anymore, huh? The great thing is they will never run out of wood chews!!!!!!!! It is like a kid whose mom owns a donut shop! I know you will take great care of them.

Oh yes - you now have the joys of finding teeny bits of hay in your hair when you are out for a big meeting or an important meal ............ your vacuum will be wanting a vacation within a week, and your cup of tea/coffee will need religiously checking just in case one of the small furry masters of your life have surreptitiously flicked poop into the drink. Oh and there's also the "how the heck did that poop get in my ................." (fill in the blank) which will become part of your everyday life - I tell you, you will find chinny poop in the oddest of places and no-one knows how they get there! ;)
Yes, welcome to your new lives as devoted chinchilla slaves

Huge congrats on getting your new boys - they look like real characters and I bet they are looking at all that wood and thinking they are in heaven

Now you have resident "research assistants" for your new toy ideas too.

Congrats again.

Congratulations Barbi and Jeff! That's awesome!

I bet this time last year you never thought you'd be bringing home your own personal pooping machines, huh? :)

:congrats1: OH MY GOSH ARE YOU TWO GOING TO HAVE FUN!!! You will one day ignore the poo's your carry on your feet through the house. Won't say a nasty word when the hoover gets clogged. Won't flinch over a missing eyebrow or eyelash at groom time. Won't complain when your butt hurts sitting on the hard floor next to them. Do I dare mention I had a poo on the kitchen counter? E-GADS!!!!! I must of sat my paper towels down on the floor by accident when I was cleaning the chins and the softness picked up a poo. I brought the paper towels back into the kitchen and to my horror I had rodent droppings on my kitchen counter!! ( big eyes over that line ) Darned health dept will be comming by next. :hilarious:

I get to return the favor. Scritches from me and Nikolas. Make sure we keep mine away from yours, we won't know which are are yours and which mine in the end. Haha.

Their adorable. I love beiges.

Congrats on your first chins!

I agree with Claire.. just wait til you're walking around and find poop in the most unlikely spot. I've found it in my pants pocket before while at school!

Congratulations, boy did those chinnies luck out getting to be "product testers" to the wood god and goddess of the chin world :dance3:.

Well, then, you'd be shocked at the poos in our kitchen. We are on constant poop-patrol ;) (How did that get in my nose?) Here's what I would have to consider so far to be my favorite picture of Chipper. How can you not love all those freckles on his ears!

And here's our adorable Mason. He's a tad bit more layed back and seems to be thinking...or maybe he's plotting ;)

And here's one more of them still in their travel cage waiting for us to quit oohing and awwwing over them and get their QC set up. Chipper is the one on top, the lighter colored of the two.

Ah, shucks...I'm limited in how many pics I can post in one reply :hair:
So here we go again...

When we finally got them into their new home, they were scrambling around so fast I couldn't even get a picture with them in it...they were there, they were gone, but her'e Mason his first full day at home exploring.

and I'm not sure what he's doing here...either hiding from the flash or playing peek-a-boo...

Here they are getting their dust bath in the new home...oh my gosh, what a mess. Mason purposely pushed all the dust out of that jar

Jeff is working on a full-time corral for them. It should be complete when they are ready to come out for their first out-of-cage playtime, though Mason did make his first escape yesterday morning while I was checking on their water bottle. (Oh, come on, tell me that NEVER happened to you)
Life as I knew it will be forever changed. Hi. I'm Barbi. I'm a chin-aholic :dance3:

They are so very cute. Congrats!

Oh and I can relate to my butt and back hurting from sitting/laying on the floor with my Buddy. I also get the "you sit on the BATHROOM floor with him" like it is the weirdest thing every.

Congratulations, boy did those chinnies luck out getting to be "product testers" to the wood god and goddess of the chin world :dance3:.
Well, thank you for that! One of the things I told Susan we wanted were big wood chewers...who could work for their keep :)

Congrats on the pair!!!

oooo nice ledges in the pictures! I really like how the corner shelf looks!
