Hi from Omaha. I'm a 30ish female who's been away from forums for a while. I don't have a chin yet, but I"ve been very very tempted by the beige one in the local pet shop. I"ve gone in with a fellow chin owner, and he agrees that the beige is the best suited out of the three in there. (If I get one, I"m totally blaming his chinchilla, Magellan.)

I'm here to learn, do research, and learn all I can before I take the plunge (if I do).

I've been around forums for years, mostly in the reptiles and invertebrate hobby, so I'm familiar with taking odd animals to the exotic vet (lols. try giving an snake with a respiratory infection a shot, i dares ya :p)

So Hi everybody!

You're in the perfect place to learn - welcome!
Might check with your exotic vet if they know anything about chinchillas, though, sometimes they can be far and few between, especially on holidays and weekends!

I just moved out here in feb, so I don't have a current herp vet. I already know where I'd go if I had to take a chin to a vet. My friend has had to run his chin in to the vet for some tooth issues and a mild eye infection and if i recall correctly she specializes in chins and she seems to be awesome, so I'd definately go to her if i got one.

:hello: Welcome! It's good to see that you're responsible enough to some research before jumping into anything. Personally: I love chins! There alot of work, but also alot of fun. You should try to find a local breeder instaed of a pet shop though. For the same price or less, you'll get a really nice, healthy chin.

Welcome to CnH! It's a great place to learn about chins, I joined before I got my first! You will learn so much!

Welcome to the forums!

I agree with supporting rescues and breeders, but that's probable kind of obvious! If you don't mind the drive I'm about 3 hours away, but sometimes get up that way, and currently have some rescues looking for homes!

Hi welcome! I've learned much from CnH and I'm sure its gonna be the same for you too! =D

Welcome!!! We're happy to help with any questions you might have while you consider whether or not to get a chin. But beware, chinnitis is most likely to occur if you get a chin, and you'll soon be addicted and wanting more!!! :)
