Hi, my name is Karen. I don't own a chin or a hedgie, am I welcome here anyway?

My last pet was Miss Hoppy, the best bunny ever. She's now at the Rainbow Bridge.

We do the website http://PetoftheDay.com - we want to encourage you to submit your chinchillas or hedgehogs for a day of fame! Each day since 1997 we have featured a new pet photo and story about why he or she is special. We have not been getting many hedgehog or chinnie nominations lately, and think that we could educate more people about them as pets when we feature them!

Some people have never seen a chinchilla, or have any idea what a fun and interesting pet a hedgehog can be, and we'd love to help remedy that situation by featuring more of these critters.

Don't worry, there's no cost to send a nomination, or to have your pet featured - and his or her page also stays as a permanent honor on our website as well.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Oh, and the page to send your nominations is
http://PetoftheDay.com/submit - and I'd be happy to answer any questions you'd have!

Thanks for the warm welcome, and I am looking forward to getting "slammed" with submissions! :)

When I first saw an image of a chinchilla, it was unlabeled in a book of old illustrations of animals - a clip art book. I had no idea what it was, and thought it was an imaginary critter, made up of rabbit back feet, squirrel front feet, somebody else's tail, and giant mouse ears. The day I walked into a pet store and saw a real one for the first time, I went home to say to my husband - "it's real! they really look like that!" :)

Welcome to CnH! I'm originally from Massachusetts...I miss it!

Thanks!

We need more nominations, we featured Chauncey, but what about your chinchillas?

I notice the hedgehog side isn't as active - do many people own both?
