It doesn't look bad at all...actually very cute. :) I've seen worse, if it is herniated a bit it doesn't look like you have to worry about it. It's a little small, so I don't know if it's just a little bit of scar tissue around his little navel.

Have to say it...Slippers has a cute little face from what I can see of it. :D

I haven't tried to look at Stitch's belly, but I can definately feel a bump like he has a bellybutton that pokes out a little too. He won't sit still long enough for me to brush the hair away to see.
Slippers is cute. Is he bothered by his button, or did you just notice it? Is he a mosaic? My Stitch is a black velvet about 4 years old.

This lump is new and rather large, I guess that doesnt show well in the pics. Thanks he is cute, but a grump. He is a Sapphire :D

as long as the hernia doesn't get any larger I wouldn't worry about it. If it gets larger it would need to be corrected surgically. Umbilical hernias aren't all that uncommon in chinchillas though and with my females I notice it much more often when they're pregnant. I had one on a male before but it never got larger and he's always been perfectly fine.

yah probably a litte hernia but just keep an eye on it and if starts to get bigger or even changes colors than i would have it checked by a vet!

I think I am just going to call the vet to be safe. I would rather spend the money to find it is nothing, then to not call and find out I could have done something sooner, and didnt. But thanks for all the replies. I will update when he goes!

Just as an update, it was a herniated umilicus. The vet said it was empty, and just fatty tissue and nothing to worry about.
