I have 2 males, brothers were in same cage but recently separated due to fighting. My problem is one is losing hair started on ear -scratching all time. So I took him to the vet, black light was negative but vet said could still be fungal so he gave me a liquid med to put on areas for 4 weeks, now losing hair on nose and area of back, it has been only 3 days with meds but he looks bad, hair is wet where I put the liquid, try to place with qtip but still gets on hair. He is still active, plays and eats. Should I take him back to vet? Where can I find a listing of vets that really know chinchillas?

If it is fungal, use tinactin in dust bath.

Tinactin in the dust bath will help.

If you post your area someone might be able to help you locate a chin knowledgeable vet. Otherwise, just google exotic vets in and around your area, then call each one to see if they see chins.
