There is no such thing as a "reverse mosaic." He's just a mosaic. Reverse mosaic, panda mosaic, and a host of other names is nothing more than a sales gimmick to get more money.

On a show table, or at an experienced breeders house, he's a mosaic. If you want to go crazy, you could say he's a heavily marked mosaic. But I'd bet by the time he's done growing, he'll be mostly white.

I kinda thought mosaic but I was not sure.He is suck a cutie too.I had a liter of 3 and the runt has pasted on us a cpl days after birth.I have read so much on chinchillas I stil have troubles with the colors.

Thank you all for the help.He is a cutie.Ill post new pics when he is a lil older and see if u think the same??

If there is ebony in the line the kit would be a white ebony I think. Please correct me if I am wrong :)).

ETA: If you have trouble with chinchilla colors chances are you shouldn't be a breeder of chinchillas. Just my opinion.

white ebony, white violet, white sapphire...all mosaics. Putting ebony, violet, or whatever in the name is just a way of letting people know what is in their lines and what color is being expressed on the mosaic. If you go to a show...they would ALL be labeled as either mosaic(dark ears) or pink white(pink ears).

He could be a white ebony but you can never go wrong by calling him a mosaic.

I have never had a liter with more then one color like this so this is a new thing to me.

I'll tell ya what he is- Really darn cute! Ha, Ha! I make myself laugh. But, yeah, he looks like a really cool marked mosiac.

Take pictures about every 2 weeks - they change pretty quick - lighter or darker, it's fun to watch!

Lol, I asked the corrasponding question to that answer about six months ago. That was a great answer.

I agree with Tabitha. You can't go wrong by calling him a mosaic. Might help us further if we knew what the parents look like as well.

Thats good to know. I was emailing the breeder I purchased my boys from and accidently called one of my boys a mosaic and she emailed me back saying he was a white ebony Not a Mosaic.
