I have a 5 month old male chinchilla named Wallace. Today I put in a new wood bridge for him so he could crawl under, chew and play with. He turned onto his back and I noticed that he had 2-3 small itty bitty dots on his wee-wee. I just got him a couple of weeks ago from the pet store (I couldn't find any breeders that were close). I'm just wondering if male chinchilla's at the age of 5 months are able to have hair rings? If they can I'll take him to the vet to get it checked out since he's my first chinchilla. :O

This is a site with a video to show you how to remove Hair rings. But if your not sure how to do something or your not sure if it is or not a hair ring you could always bring him to the vets to get it checked out and also ask them if they could show you how to do it.

I read hair rings are more common within breeding chinchillas, so it might not just be that just yet. But definitely get it checked out if your worried about it, and he might be showing the signs of it.

Do a ring check but if they're spots on the skin....it's just dark pigmentation in that area. Some chins have spots on their penises.;)
