My fingers are raw and I'm about to pull my hair out :hair: :banghead: . I finally found the kiln dried pine I'd been looking for to make shelves and got it cut and everything and now I can't install the **** hanger bolts . I don't have a drill all I have are pliers and a hammer . Please tell me there's a magical way to get these to work !

Use the wingnuts. Hang on, i have pics from my forum. Will post them so you can see.

Then you can use pliers to turn it when it gets too difficult to turn it by hand.

It is easier to drill the holes first and you don't have to worry about being crooked or splitting the wood. If you don't have a drill though it will work using the wingnuts as pine is soft. Just push the bolt into the wood as you start it.
Good luck!

I do mine very similar but the first wing nut i put on upside down, and near then do the other one. Maybe it's my backwards husband who got me onto doing it that way, but yup, like above works like a charm!
