I thought I should introduce myself as I have posted here regarding my chin Taz who is ill at the moment. I was a member of Chins and Quills many moons ago. I currently have a family of four chins. Not by choice, but by accident and lack of knowledge. We got our first chin Jack from a person who didn't want him anymore. We were told he was a boy for sure. A few months later after learning some more about chins, we thought we would get him a friend. We named him Tazzy Two Tone, Taz for short. They both were living a nice life together and we enjoyed them very much. One day hubby and I came home from work and were looking at the chins, and I thought I saw blood in the cage. I called hubby over to pick up their house as I was concerned that something happened to Jack. He was in the house. Hubby picked up the house to move it, and out popped this tiny white mouse looking thing. It took us a second or two to realize that it was a baby chinchilla. Jack turned out to be a girl Jack. We knew Taz was a boy as we had bought him from a breeder because we wanted to make sure we wouldn't have any babies. We got over the initial shock of a baby chinchilla when Jack moved and we saw another small tail. She had two babies. So, not being able to break up such a wonderful family, we kept the babies Sugar and Speedy. We have learned alot since then on how to sex chinchillas..lol So Jackie and Sugar are in one cage, and Taz and Speedy have their own separate cages. And that is how we came to have four chinchillas.
