So I'm not sure where to begin seeing as I registered over a month ago and I didn't actually think to introduce myself. Never too late though right?
I guess I'll start with myself and how I got here!
My name is Keira and I graduated from High School this year and I've already completed my first term of college classes. I'm loving it to say the least. I do martial arts and I looooove to draw! I'm balancing school, work, and my two adorable chinchillas.
For the longest time I was obsessed with getting a ferret. My mother wouldn't let me because they were too smelly. So I decided to compromise and settle with a rat or some type of rodent. Well low and behold there was this chinchilla for sale at Petsmart and it looked a lot cuter than a rat. I had seen one before, but all I remembered was that they were super skittish and did not like to be touched. Regardless I asked to hold her and she was softer than anything I had ever felt! Unlike what I had remembered she DID like to be pet and scratched. I was completely smitten with her from the start and all thoughts of some pesky rat soon left my mind. After scrounging through my savings I got her everything she needed and then some. I named her Mika.
Soon after getting her I realized that she had become very dependent on people for attention. I would come home from work and see her slouched over and staring through the bars awaiting my return. I worried that she would get depressed. I decided to get her a buddy and it helped a lot. Though they don't get along together, they do enjoy eachother's company through the cage bars! I named the other girl Kiki.
Since then I have had an interest and curiosity in chinchillas that has been borderline on the obsessed. When something interests me I try to learn all I can about it. Least to say I have lost most my interest in owning a ferret, especially after the wonderful experiences I have been having with my two chinchillas.
Lastly I want to say that I love this forum because it has been nothing but helpful for me since I've joined. I've learned a lot from reading on here and I love the sense of community that I get from everyone here. I hope I continue to have nothing but positive experiences
