I landed here when looking for chins and quills, wild!
I've been a member over there since 2001. I was Chin Slave. I always hated that name, and then someone joined and named herself ChinSlave. Yeah, that wasn't confusing .
Anyway, I'm Dawn. I have one chinchilla named Sammy. He's 11 years old TODAY! We celebrated his birthday with hay and head scratches. He didn't seem to mind the no-cake deal.
Over the years, I have had other chinchilllas, lots of them at one point. I bred them for a while, then all of a sudden, they stopped selling. I could hardly give them away. And I am not about to breed an animal when there is no demand. That's why the shelters are full of dogs and cats.
So now it's just me and Sammy again. I'll have him forever, he's my buddy. Sweetest chinchilla ever, loves to be held and cuddled.
In addition to Sammy, I have a 5 year old Australian Kelpie (hence the username), named Leah, and a 13 year old dachshund mix named Buddha.
