I am a new member, I found this site while looking for answers to the question of keeping a chinny alone/introducing a new chinny. This morning I found that my 12 year old Jersey woollie bunny male had passed away , he had lived for years with my Male chinchilla. A definite Odd couple, but they enjoyed each other and got along just fine. I worry about the lone survivor and wonder if I should consider getting him a playmate.

So sorry to hear about your bunny. A lot of good info here about introducing chins.

Sorry to hear about your bunny. I would love to see some photos of them together if you have some. I bet that was a site to see! Give your chin lots of affection and attention and see how he does after a few weeks. If you can give him the attention he needs he may be ok with you being his sole buddy. I would wait at least 2-3 weeks and see how it goes. Again, sorry for your loss.

Hi and welcome! I'm so sorry to hear of your bunny's passing. :( I do not believe, though, that bunnies and chinchilla's are to be near eachother because the bunnies can pass on something deadly to the chins... Some chinnies will accept another same sex cagemate, and some will not. My chin has been separated from a group because she did not get along with the others, and she has done fine on her own. She does have a fleece cuddle buddy, though, and she loves to drag it around!

That is so sweet about your chin & bunny. Sorry to hear about the passing, though. I hope you can get great advice and help maintain your chin's happiness. Welcome to the forum!
