lovin' my chinny boys!
Hello everyone! So happy to have finally registered. I've been reading the forum for years now whenever I need help, so here I am. I have two chin-boys... Splinter and Cotton... brother that I rescued from a shelter. The woman I got them from said they've always lived together and were about a year old. I got both as I had a single chin years ago... I decided I'd like them to have company, so I got both... plus, who could split up brothers? About a year and a half later they started fighting. I tried temporary separation to no avail, as when they got back together, they fought some more. So now I have two cages side-by-side (with a barrier so they can't see or get at each other). I'd love to get them back together but failed attempt after failed attempt, not sure that would ever happen. So here we are... 2 chins, 2 cages, 2 of everything. Haha. But they're good boys.
Currently, Cotton had a freak-out night last night and was very vocal though he normally isn't. Not sure what scared him, but he seems to be calming down today. AS for Splinter, he's been battling some sort of illness since March... thought it was an eye infection, an ulcer in his eye, and then determined after a lot of weight loss and a couple of seizures that there were possibly some dental issues (amongst more??). He had his teeth trimmed, didn't handle being put under very well, and now we've been recovering for about a month. Most is going back to normal, except trying to ween him off the Critical Care food, but I think he's doing a lot of it on his own.
I must admit, it's hard for me to see them alone as I got the 2 so they'd have company when I couldn't always be there. I always think "well, what if I try re-introducing them?" but then I see their reactions to just smelling each other on my hands and I couldn't put either of them through that stress.
So... there's our story! Looking forward to meeting all of you. Helping you however I can and getting advice from you in return!
