I used to feed Tribble hay from inside a chube, but switched to one of Carise's [forchinate chins] hay boxes about a month ago. It's absolutely adorable and keeps the hay in place... but Tribble doesns't seem to be eating as much hay out of it as she used to eat when it was in the chube. Are there any other haybox designs/different ways to dispense it that might help her eat more yet keep her cage tidier?

I use to put my hay in a hay box but noticed my chins eat more when its "free"

So I placed a fleece hammock inside their kennel. The hammock holds their cut hay and I put a ledge right inside of the hammock so they can sit and eat. Another member on here said if she tried that her chins would pee in the hammock... mine havent and they know when they want hay they go to the hammock. It doesnt get thrown around and they eat a lot.
Maybe try that?

Hey, put it in a couple places, make her work for it! It'll be more fun, and she'll have more "options". chins... well generally they just like making messes, not much you can do about that.

for my one chin i use a tissue box, the taller kind. i take all the plastic out and cut a bigger hole, like an arch, lay it on its side and fill it with hay, he loves eating out of it, cant pee in it and it keeps it somewhat contained.
my handmade cage has little hay "boxes" but they usually just pee in there, i am thinking of putting the hay in the tissue box & putting it inside the hay box.
when we redo the cage, i will definitly have my fiance' come up with a better design.

I have my hay in a hay ball and have a box underneath to catch the hay that falls out. I have given up on the idea of it not making a mess. The more hay mess, the happier she must be!!!
