I'm wanting to purchase a hay box but I'm not really sure where to get one and much less, which one to get. Any help with maybe the ones you use or ones that you think would work the best would be helpful, thanks

I'll be watching this, as I was just coming to post the same thing :)

We made our ledges so they don't have rims....the chins are pretty messy with the hay. I tried a coconut holder....they like playing with the coconut, but can't/don't/won't get the hay out.

There's also cage guards you can buy, I'd prefer just a hay holder that would work though :)

I love the hay holders than Tiffany (threewingedfurry) makes. They are made out of fleece and hang on the sides of the cage. They are cheap also and come in different colors. I did have one 'little buggar' who pulled and pulled until he ripped the thing off the side leaving a hole. However he was the only one - the rest of my crew seem to like them and pull the hay out them with no problems.

Ok thanks a lot for the info. I'll check hers out. I was told that a member named Cat75 makes a good hay holder but I wasn't able to see it or find it either. I pm'd Cat75 and asked so hopfully I'll find out soon.
The fleece hay holders seem like a pretty good idea too BTW. Thanks for the info

Hi

I make hay holders for my chins out of wood, so they are like a wooden hay box, and they are attached to the cage with a nut and bolt, I used to have a page on my site for my custom made supplies, but I don't anymore, I can send you a picture if you want, but I am from Canada. I found these wooden hay holders are very useful though, I got the idea from a plastic hay holder that came out with a cage I bought, and I built the same, but out of wood.

I'm not sure if Cat is making the hay holders anymore, you may want to PM her and ask. I have one and it is large and very well made.

I also have a few from Carise @ Forchinate Chins that have lasted through years of chins chewing, as well as a metal one that attaches on the outside of the cage from Quality Cage co. for my extra messy boys.

Ok I'll check out Quality Cage and see about theirs. I may just try and figure out how to make one myself. I'm just not realy sure how to go about doing so haha

I'm a fan of flower pots, I think they look cute with hay sticking out. I got azalea pots because they are flatter on the bottom and don't tip over as easily as a traditional flower pot. $1 at Walmart, can't beat that!
