I have seemed to only come across pairs, not triplets.
I may be getting a beige rescue from a local breeder/rescue

I know about quarantine and such, but what are the odds all three (Valentine and Casanova are living together great) can live together?

And if so, what kind of cage? A FN with the add on?

It's going to depend on the chin. I have chins in up to groups of 10 right now. It all depends on their distinct personalities. It can be more of a challenge to add a chin to an already existing pair, so be aware that it may not work. Sometimes they accept easily, sometimes not so much.

There's no way to give you odds. You'll just have to try an intro and see how it works out.

A two level ferret nation would be good, especially if they don't get along. Then you could still have one cage, but split it into two on the inside if they need separated.

Yeah, that is what i figure. I am not worried about Casanova, but I am worried about Valentine, since he has claimed dominance. :/
I just would hate to pass up such a rescue.

I have trios and quads. The thing to remember is the more chins in the mix the more complicated the introduction. Even trios can be pretty tricky. If you are patient, though, you should be able to work it out. However, there are no guarantees, and you should be prepared for the possibility of keeping them separate permanently.

Yeah, I have a standard cage that even while waiting for the FN he can be housed in permanently.

Lets hope :)

Good luck with that, I hope you have better luck than I ever did!

I got Tami from a rescue, hoping she'd be able to go in with my already bonded pair. Amy wasn't having any of that nonsense. I tried on and off for about 6 months and then gave up. A year later I finally just bought a kit to pair with Tami and now everyone is happy in pairs.

Do you know, Amy and Tami still to this day can't stand even the sight of each other?! Man, those little devils hold long grudges!!

I have pairs, trios, quads, I have a cage of 6 I used to have 12 girls in a cage. no problems. But it depends on each chinchilla there is no way to tell in advance

Wow, Kristy, how do you do the intro on such a large group? I've never been brave enough to try more than four. Plus, I wouldn't want to house more than four in the cages I have, so I would have to build a new cage to house them.

I have a pair that I tried to introduce a third into. Chin A and B were already together, and I have chin C in his own cage. Chin A gets along just fine with chin B and chin C, but chin B tries to bite at chin C and there ends up a lot of fur flying.

So, chin A always stays in the big cage, along with either chin B or C (I switch them every day or two). But chin B and C occasionally attack the bars to try to get to each other. I don't know if chin B will ever get along with chin C.

I had a few retired girls living together in a huge cage, I just kept adding weanling girls I wanted to keep. Now that cage only has 4 as I put the rest into breeding when they were old enough or sold the ones that didn't do as well as I would've liked at shows.

I've had trios that worked out well and I have had pairs. I also have a couple of girls that hate each other and they also are not too keen on sharing their cage with other females (males are okay as far as they are concerned). I didn't have any problems doing trios but more than that and I wouldn't have the room in a smaller cage to use for intros.

We had 3 of our boys together for about a year- then 1 day- 1 started fighting with the others. Now he lives alone... We have tried to let them play together, hoping that they would re-bond but it has not worked! Like everyone says... it depends on the chin and their attitude.
