I haven't verified this, but it might be worth looking into! I'd go help for a week if I could get there free, wonder how that works...

AMERICAN AIRLINES is taking doctors and nurses to Haiti for free. Please call 212-697-9767. Spread the word. If you are looking for ways to be of any help... UPS IS SHIPPING TO HAITI FOR FREE TOMORROW!! IT HAS TO BE UNDER 50 lbs!! If you have ANYTHING to give, round up your stuff and send it out!! PLEASE repost this to spread the word

I'm sure if you're on Facebook, you've seen this one:

If you haven't already done so, text "Yele" to 501501 to donate $5.00 to the Haiti Earthquake relief, headed by Wyclef Jean. Or text "Haiti" to 90999 to donate $10! (Red Cross). Help out with a few bucks. Unless you can't afford to buy yourself lunch today, it's your duty as a human being. Do it. It's super easy. The charge will appear on your cell phone bill. Do it.

Haven't checked into it, but seems like an easy (if unconventional) way to make a small donation.

Both of the numbers you posted about texting to were shown on CNN as fund raising efforts for Haiti. I saw them on there myself.

And yes...BOTH of these reports are false...http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/01/14/twitter.hoax.haiti/index.html

it's too bad about the ups and doctors thing but thought I'd throw in that I too have heard about the texting thing from a number of credible places and it is legit

There are warnings about scams with this disaster all over the news. Please be sure to verify that your money is truly going where it's needed, and not lining the pockets of someone willing to scam and steal from those who need it most right now.

I'm sure the Red Cross can give donation information; and for example we have a couple in our church who have been running and supporting an orphanage in Haiti, partnering with Holt International, for years. Make sure you give to trusted sources.
