As some of you may know, I had gotten two guinea pigs off Craigslist. One came to me sick, unbeknown to me for a couple days. She was losing weight, I took her to the vet twice and even though she was given subQ fluids, antibiotics, reglan and being hand fed, she died. I was heartbroken. I've been wanting piggies for quite a while and when I finally take the plunge, I get my heart broken.

Well, my remaining piggie from the first pair I brought is healthy and doing fine. Well, a few days ago I finally found a second girl piggie for me. Here are some pictures......

First, the original remaining piggie. I've posted this picture before but I'm posting it again. I've named her Vanilla because that's what my granddaughter used to say......"Can I hold the Vanilla one?" The one that died was black with brown mottling. :) Vanilla has those see through light pink eyes I love so much.

This is my new girl. I don't know if you can see it in the picture but her grey is that agouti grey. Vanilla is a little fiesty but this one is very, very sweet.
Her name is Cloud as she is grey like storm cloud. I don't know why but her fur is much softer to the touch than Vanilla's.

Her left side...

Today I saw Cloud stand up on her hind legs to groom. I didn't know they could do that. They just look so.......bulky. Also, I noticed they are at a distinct disadvantage to the chinchillas as they cannot hold their food in their hands. Bummer for the piggies. LOL

They do look like large hamsters, don't they? These piggies are both very young. Vanilla weighed in yesterday at 365 g. and Cloud weighed in at 305g. They are pretty young, yet.

When i heard you say piggies i thought you meant like real pigs, but obviously not. I am truly sympathetic for your loss and by the way dang them guineas be cute.

congrats! soon they will have you wrapped around their little fingers...i mean paws!

i have 4 and they know when supper time is and are very demanding if they done get fed right on time, they also vocalize when the refrigerator in the other room opens cause they know that they get veggies from that noise! i love mine so much and i dont think i could live with out them EVER.

hahah yeah I have eleven girl-guineas and wowees do they make a lot of noise when I open the fridge!!

I hope Cloud and Vanilla settle in well together. They are both adorable Carol!

Wee Companions did photos with Santa at PetSmart. I'm always the photographer and to get piggies to look at the camera we always crinkle plastic bags. ;)

That's pretty funny!! I love to hear them wheek but only one of mine does. Vanilla (Cookie) is kind of shy but Cloud wheeks up a storm most of the time. They are too cute.

I had My piggie totally trained to beg(or he had me trained) on his hind legs for a treat. We just recently lost both our boys who were very old, I miss the weeking and the little purs and the little faces, but I have to many little ones right now to get anymore.

I saw one go up on her haunches once to groom. They look to bulky and clumsy to do that so I was impressed. Yes, mine kind of chortle when I pick them up and scratch them around their ears. And also, for a bulky, clumsy little critter with very short legs, they sure can race around at 'breaking the sound barrier' speed. It's so funny to see. I didn't think their little legs could move that fast. The last time I had guinea pigs was about 30 years ago so I don't remember much.

oh yeah they are such cuties when they do the grooming thing!
And I love it when they stretch their legs out long so they can run fast heheh

Aw Carol, congratulations on Cloud! :D She is definitely lucky to have you, and you sound so happy.
