Please tell me that Shelly did not sit next to me, reach down, pull out poop, and eat it. Gross!!

Its called coprophagy. The feces she ate is actually very important to her. Chinchillas will have this "special" type of soft feces that they defecate, it is a supposed to be rich in nutrients. So while it seems gross, it is very normal for her to do this.

:vomit: I did not need to read that.

She is cute but that is gross.

I first saw this behavior when I had my guinea pig--before getting Trixie. They will put out a larger than usual poo and eat it, for the vitamins. Surprised the heck out of me.
Funny, when I first got Trixie, I was given the impression from somewhere that chins did not eat their "vita-poos" and was sure surprised when Trixie did it. Now I am used to it.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! I did see a video of that. I will be sticking with girls.

One of my girls has got me in the face. She has such wonderful accuracy. Lol. I have boys, too. and when they get to cleaning them selves it is usually when we have company. People's reactions can be really hilarious.

Boyz will be boyz...and don't anger the girl chins...mwahahahaha

Being sprayed in the face is so gross.

So if Shelly is giving me the stink eye I'm going to walk far far away. I already live with two human boys. They are more than enough.

I'm with Essentia: I'd rather have to do a monthly hairring check or a little more cage laundry* than worry about walking into the room on the wrong day and getting pee in my eye from 15' away.

(One of mine liked to "rhythmically cuddle" with the hammock. That stuff NEVER comes off once it dries. Never.)

Watch for her to tap dance. Apparently that's a warning sign some will use before spraying. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pzfQFJhgq4

That video is really cute. However, I will stay away from her if I ever see her doing it.
