So Adara has begun to grind her teeth. I don't think it's any cause for concern, and she seems to do it once, but in a consistent pattern. I noticed it today and she was sleeping. I heard this sound almost like a screeching door, but only once and a couple moments when by, and I heard it again. I'm thinking this is slightly odd, but then she keeps doing it with the same gap between. Now she's awake and destroying things, so she's not doing it. She paused and rested in her fleece tube, and again I heard this "schqueakch". Do chins usually do this out of boredom? I've only noticed it today. Nothing else seems out of the ordinary, except for the fact she manages to be very consistent with her timing and the fact she does it in her sleep lol.

Yes, chinchillas make this warning call and screeching while they are sleeping.

i noticed Jonesy doing this sometimes in her sleep. at first i thought it was a worry, but if i put my hand on her side very gently and say something or sing, she seems to stop.
i think it's the bad chin-dream that does it.
the good chin-dream is the nose-twitching one, then.
just a hypothesis.

Mine usaly only grind their teeth if their overly excited or antisapating something. (or chewing the bars) That warning call of theirs tho its not uncommon at all. Latly my one girl has been doing it every day while shes sleeping/waking up. Something must of scared her to, cause its the only time she stays still for my to pet/comfort her. Quite often she will stay quite while im their with her, then when i leave shell start up again.
