Anyone have any great gift ideas for girls? My girls are 6 and 9.

I'd like to get them a couple more things that aren't too expensive. I'd like to get them something fun and practical.

I got them each new boots, each a DS game, pajamas, and a couple stocking type things like a little bath set and little stationary thing.

I was debating on giving them each some money to get what they want... but I don't know.

Anythoughts?!

i have 4 neices and i always get them artsy crafty type stuff and they love it! they are aged from 5 thru 9. i usually get the kits, like disney princesses or high school musical. it usually has colored pencils and a notepad. this year i got them at Walgreens on a night they were 50% off, so they were only $5 dollars each! i also bought them the hannah montana movie.
do you have the store 5 below?? they usually have some girly type stuff that is 5 dollars or less.

Nope, we don't have any cool stores!

They love jewelry so I was thinking about browsing ebay for some stuff that looks nice but is not too expensive!

I agree-- the craft stuff is the best!

I have two girls, ages 4 and 8 (almost 9). We did books, a movie each, a Wii game, a board game, slippers, a couple of craft things from Michaels (a beading loom type of thing to make jewelry, and eraser clay-- have you seen that? kinda cool) a kids camcorder and a kids digital camera. My youngest is getting a couple of other toys so I'm also trying to figure out stuff for the oldest to balance it out... it gets hard when they stop asking for "toys"! I did break down and get them one big toy-- the Zhu Zhu pet Hamster World. I'm on the fence whether I should keep it or not. It looks like a bunch of junk to me and it was fairly expensive, but its the only toy my older daughter requested and they're pretty popular right now. Who knows? I'm going to head to Claires to get some jewelry and other stocking stuffers.

Not sure if they have a camera yet but they have some in the kids section of Target that are pretty inexpensive. My kids love taking pictures with my camera, so I thought they might enjoy one of their own (and mine is less likely to break now!) Do they have a scooter? Those are cheaper this year also. What about gift certificates to the local movie theater?

oohhh............what about jewelery making kits??? acmoore, joanns, hobby lobby, michaels???? do you have any of them by you. of course you can find a ton of that stuff on line.
i am a scrapbooker, so i always push my hobby on people. my one neice (and my son!) love scrapbooking kits. they usually come with everything but the pix. if you dont have much money to spend on a real camera, you could get them a disposable one???
the only other thing that i can think of that has been a hit with my neices is: make up kits and dress up kits. they have these cute plastic shoe & tiara sets at walgreens that are an inexpensive gift/

My stepdaughter is 7. I got her Barbie play sets, one is a kitchen and the other was a bedroom set. I also got a doll with a change of clothing. Um, and a fleece blanket because she always tries to steal mine. :) But she loves the craft kits you can find anywhere.

I have 2 daughters. Age 11 and 5...and 2 sons who are 7 and 3.. My husband and I finally broke down this year and bought them a wii... Their first ever video game system.. I don't agree with letting your kids sit in front of the tv or playing video games all day.. We bought it mostly for a reward system. they only get to play it when they don't fight and are getting good grades in school... I know I'm a mean mom... LOL Which for my kids (since all they do is fight) won't ever get to play it... So I guess you can say we bought it for my husband and I to play..LOL

Anyways, Our 11 year old daughter we just got her 2 wii games, a wii remote, a wii steering wheel, and a bunch of books and other stuff for her stocking... Our 5 years daughter we got a cabbage patch kid, a barbi, another soft type doll, coloring books, and a bunch of little things to go in her stocking... Everything we bought her she asked for..

If my parents bought me a wii and used it as a reward system to not fight with my sister...Oh the joy lol I would be so happy lol

anyways, I've got 3 nieces. Ages 11, 9 (will be 10 on Wednesday), and 6. We got beaded jewerly sets for the older two and a temporary tattoo kit for the youngest. Then border games, dolls (mostly the youngest), dress up stuff, make-up kits (the ones for younger kids, with nail polish and matching lip gloss)

For girls that age I usually go with music stuff or crafts (as mentioned). For the younger one, something like "Kids Rock" or "Kids Bop" might be fun; it's children recorded singing pop/rock songs, though that drives some adults (like me) up the frelling wall. The older one might like The Princess and the Frog soundtrack, unless she's got a definite favorite movie (I'm partial to Beauty and the Beast for most girls; Belle's got courage and brains while not being overly "butch".) The Tarzan soundtrack just has some AMAZING music on it, or she might have a favorite artist out of stuff you regularly listen to. It's worth thinking about whether the older one would like a journal/diary too. At 9, she's going to have a lot of big stuff hitting her soon, and I enjoyed having a place to get the worries out of my head.

I just came to the realization while readinr this thread that my kids have everything so they obviously don't need anything for Christmas, lol

We have a huge craft box with everything from paper to pom poms and googley eyes to stamps and glitter already, we have a Wii, they both have DS's, dolls and toys galore, Hailey has an MP3 player so I just download whatever songs she wants for it, no CD's needed although she does have a CD player, they have bead kits, and a huge doll house they never use, horses and huge barn my dad made them....

So well... lol. I am thinking some gift certificates to the movies are good, I think someone mentioned that, and maybe make them some coupon books for like " Good for one picnic" ( with approval of course, like a day that will work ).

I did order them each a ring and ear rings off ebay. They are "real" jewelry, not the adjustable kind, but are plated and lab created stones. For $5 with free shipping you can't really beat that, lol.

Did you just order it today? Coming from Hong Kong you probably won't have it in time for Christmas. :( I ordered a necklace and it took about 3 weeks to get to me, and that was without all the holiday mail traffic.

That you could do.

We got my sister a new computer desk and it was put together when we bought it. I hide it in the closet. My parnets and I are either putting a slip of paper telling her where to find it or were going to bring it out Christmas night and put a bow on it lol
