I have been reading post on this site for a few months now and just joined. This forum has been very helpful.
My daughter currently has 2 chins. Smokey is a standary (3 years old) and Dane is a violet (7 years old). We have adopted both in a rescue effort. We adopted Smokey first and we absolutely love him. After doing much research we knew he would need a friend. We spend a lot of time with Smokey and he was always begging (hands wrapped around the bars of his cage - so sad) for more time. At night he would make noised just to have us come in and scratch his chin. We found a local rescue shelter for chins and explained that we might want to adopt another chin if they had one available. The shelter was so nice and asked us to bring Smokey in for a trial. We put smokey in a small cage with dividers and then introduced Dane. The response was favorable. After 30 minutes we removed the divider and they were cuddling and grooming each other. Needless to say, the intro went well and we now have two boys.
My daughter loves her chins and we are always looking for new ways to spoil them. Thanks for posting all the info out there because it really does help.
We are proof. We have two chins and a larger cage with wood shelves that we made ourselves and covers for the wire shelves. Our chins are very happy. Your forum really helped us.
Thanks.
