Hi everyone! I am new to the site and have found some very useful information so far. I have had my little Mister for about 9 months now. I am going on vacation for about a month starting at the end of this month but I am worried he won't remember me when I get back, or at least I'll lose some of the trust I've already gained from him. I would take him with me if I could, but I will be flying to around the country and can't. I am leaving him with my boyfriend who has been living with me, so he's use to him, but I'm the only one that really plays with him and what not. So, just worried he'll forget about me! Any advice? Or reassurances? Haha. Thanks!

He probably will forget about you for a while, and you'll most likely have to work a little bit to get that bond back again, but once you're home again and handling him all the time he'll be fine.

Make sure you leave detailed lists for your boyfriend - how to feed, what to feed, safe treats, vet numbers, temperature concerns, etc., and the link to this forum in case he needs help.

If your relationship is good, you'll not be forgotten!
I've had chins I've sold remember me over a year later!

Everytime I leave I have to win a little trust back, but my boys do a crazy chin dance when I come through the door. They've probably forgotten who I was, but I like to pretend they were waiting for me to come home Lol

I will add though, the first time I left there was a chin emergency (one of the boys was running around with a stick in their mouth, fell, and got cut). My boyfriend was in such a panic that he had to call me to ask where the carrier, car keys, AND the vet were. So now when I leave I prep an emergency kit and leave it near the cage. I tape a piece of paper with all the local vets numbers and addresses and directions to them on top of the carrier with a spare car key.

So don't forget that your hubby might panic in the event of an emergency, and forget everything.

Thanks so much for the advice! I'll be sure to leave a list and I'll probably call everyday to check up on my little guy! Haha.

Also, tunes! I see you're in South Dakota? That's where I'll be for the first part of my vacation. My dad has a sheep farm in Peever, about an hour north of Watertown.

You will be a ways north from me. I'm about 3 hours'ish away from Watertown. :)
