Hi,

I am going out of the country for 3 weeks, and was planning on leaving my chinchilla with a friend, but she unexpectedly will not be able to care for my chin anymore.

What should I do? Are there any trusted care centers for chins? I live in the New York City area. I'm really worried about what's going to happen if I can't find anyone to take care of my chin ):

Thanks.

Mt. Zion chins, 3C's Mommy and Godins Chinchillas can all be trusted if they agreed to take care of your chin, idk if they would. And they should be able to give you some more ideas. I don't know the others. Try PM'ing them

I have a petsitter who is a vet tech- she takes excellent care of all of my critters. You could check in with the local vet office and see if there are any vet techs who do petsitting "on the side".

We used care.com to find a pet sitter. We got extremely lucky and found a very sweet girl who used to own chinchillas. She loves them to bits. We recently had to leave the country for a couple weeks and she did a great job. We vetted her for a day or so visit before and I also have a chinchilla camera set up so we could remote in and check on them. Now I trust her 100%.

I have a pet sitting question! (hopefully it's alright to post related questions in an existing thread? Someone tell me if I'm not supposed to do that please!)
If I have someone who can come to my apartment once a day while I'm gone, and do play time, cage cleaning, etc. is it okay to have my chinchilla home alone the rest of the day? It's for two weeks over the holidays. Is it much better for him to go to someone's place to stay?
I figure between school/sleeping time he's on his own so much any way that it wouldn't be a big deal...

Thanks for your help! I just PM-ed them and will begin searching on care.com I'll let you know how it goes :D
