I am thinking about getting out of breeding for the following reasons:
1. My husband wants to take an early retirement in 2 to 3 years.
2. Our friends purchased a beach house in Lanai, HI which we can use anytime.
The house is 2 stories, built-in-pool, beach maybe 150 ft from pool.
3. Sister-in-law by marriage has stand by airlines tickets we can use. We just
need to get passports.
4. The only draw back is being clastophobic. The problem I have about airplanes
is getting on and off. Once we are up in the air I have no problem.

I will keep my herd and probably hire a house/pet sitter.

You need a passport to go to Hawaii? How come?

Other than that - are you looking for opinions, or was this a general announcement?

No, you don't need a passport for HI, I've been there many times without one. But a passport is good to have anyways if you want to travel.

im thinking she meant that in the future, she may consider traveling. that was my assumption.

i think all the chinnies should go to hawaii! lol

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. I know you don't need one for Hawaii but we need it for Europe, etc.

I am looking for opinions. My husband would like to do some traveling so I told him we would need a house/pet sitter because I am not giving up my animals. Right now I have 4 females on hold for breeding at my house until I decide on what I want to do.

Also, if he did do an early retirement he has this pension plan he can use it for higher education. He is suppose to see if we can use this money for our son's law school that way he will not be in debt.

In the end you need to do what will make you the most happy, no one can tell you what that is except you

How often would you be traveling? If this is just a couple times a year for a few days I say get a sitter. If you think it would be more than that or weeks at a time I would say maybe now's not the best time. Its hard when you have responsibility with animals - it helps when you have trusted friends to help out but I am finding that's hard here now that we've moved. I think everyone has pondered getting out at some point. Just have to do what's in everyone's best interest.

My opinion is this--before you make any decision wait and see what kind of life you have with your husband after he retires. My father retired early, my mother quit her job to be with him and things did not go at all the way we all thought they would! My parents love each other very much, yet my mother can be a PITA! My father actually went back to work as he was bored with retirement and really didn't want to do all the things my mother did. She found a nice group of lady friends and they shop and play majhongg.

I will also add if you don't feel you have the quality time to spend on your breeding program then I do think you should retire from it. We all know very well the problems that occur when devotion to breeding isn't done.

I do think you should travel though and see the world and get out and enjoy life!
