What a cutie! At first I was a little disinterested, but as he got more comfortable it was very good! He sure is a ball of energy, isn't he?!

I saw that a few days ago. I'm not sure I understand why Simon is so hyped on him. In parts he was good, in others he was annoying. He's a cutie though.

Sounds like he has some potential, but I'm with Peggy. There were a lot of rough spots - good and bad. For a first audition there's a shiatload of people in that stadium!!

I don't know...that performance really didn't move me at all. He does have a lot of energy and can work the crowd but I prefer raw talent to showmanship.

He's got showmanship, I'll give him that. But, from that audition, I don't feel like I got a good sampling of the rest of his talents. I have 12 years of classical voice training behind me (which I didn't exactly *want* but whatever...) and honestly, I couldn't bloody hear him to figure out if his diction was any good, if he could sustain his breath properly, etc. It was fun to watch, but without at least a little technique and training, he could actually damage his voice trying to sing for standing room only arenas. And while yes, technique etc. can be taught, there's a limit to what teaching can do too.

I think that must be what made Simon comment on him. He really does have great showmanship, but that doesn't mean he has singing talent. I can see he would have eye appeal for the ladies, and he definitely knows how to work a stage, but I just wasn't impressed with his vocals. He was really wavery and up and down in several parts of it, almost like he was trying to sing higher than he was capable of. When he settled down into the meat of the song, he was much better.

Yeah, that must be it. Was he singing? I didn't notice. ;)
