I'm hoping someone has some ideas for me here lol. I'm to familiar with these things. Id like to get a generator or something that could power my AC incase the power went out. However, I'm in a rly crappy second floor apt, so anything thats run on gas or would need to be aired wouldn't really work. Are there any kinds that are usable and able to be kept inside?

None usable indoors that I know of. Can you put one on the ground outside your apartment and run an extension cord thru a window to the AC unit?

Some apartments do not allow generators, make sure you check your lease or talk to your landlord before you get one at all.

my slum lords can go to **** if they don't like it lol. If my choice during an outage was to upset them and keep my chins alive or the opposite.. not much of a choice' Besides, they only show up here when the state makes them. And the only thing more slummy then the LL are the other ppl around here. So i wouldn't leave anything outside.

Now that that fun is outa the way, i was talking to my dad about it, and he found this site. It certainly is expensive enough, but it is an electric charge. No gas or oil and no real noise. It look like its just enough wattage (1500) to run my AC (1110) if need be.

One thing I'm not sure on however is "Battery Life per charge 55Ah". I have no idea what 55AH is supposed to stand for.

But so far, thats the only real one Ive found.

Hopefully i get this right. AH = amp hours.

For the model linked above, it shows at 55 AH. the AC is listed as 10amps.
So i assume 5.5 hours give or take variances in real life.

Using formula i found on an online search:

Power=Current*Voltage
1110W = Current * 115v
Current=9.65217

Time = 55Ah / 9.65217
Time = 5.695 hours

So maybe im right'

I don't know much about the watts, etc... but generators can not be used indoors. It can be fetal not only to your pets but to you as well.

I use a small generator (gas powered) to run my chins AC in case of a power outage. We only have 1 small one for their ac and everything else can wait until the power comes back on. I've used mine for up to 12 hours (refilling, of course). They work wonderful.

If you are in an apartment, do you have a balcony that you might be able to sit the generator on? You'd have to run extension cords, but it would work. Also, might check with landlord that generators are allowed because they can be loud so neighbors might get pretty annoyed.

Good Luck!

The AC is 10 amps, 1110 watts. The generator would only be for the AC. Since we are surrounded by cities and what not on all sides, if the power goes out, it is usually not long. And if necessary i could put the chins in smaller cages and put them in my small room, with a smaller AC (so the generator would last longer.)

Thats why i was looking at an electric powered generator. There is no way i can use a gas type powered one. No balcony, and if i leave something like that out side it would be stolen in a minute, no doubt.

I assumed an electric powered one would not have any gas, vapor, fumes, etc. that could cause any harm.

As for run time on that electric gen linked to above, it looks like it would run about 5.5 Hours on this AC. The formula (in amps) was listed above.
