I am looking for recipes for some healthy fruit smoothies or some other nice, cold blended summer drink. If any of you have some tried and true favorites and wish to share the recipes, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I just mix ice, vanilla yogurt (I use the fat free, you could use any flavor you want) and two kinds of fruit (strawberries and bananas or peaches and raspberries are my two favorite blends). It is very refreshing and has no fat and very few calories and you can tweak it to your taste :)).

Also an easy & cheap smoothie recipe is to buy the frozen fruit and add either water or milk and some honey for sweetner and blend it in the blender. To make it low fat just add water and splenda. I have added spices or extracts too, like a little cinnamon or coconut extract for flavor.
We dont have an ice maker so for me the frozen fruit is the way to go!

Thanks guys. I'll have to experiment. I have some plain yogurt, some soymilk, frozen raspberries, strawberries, peaches, fresh lemons and fresh limes. Of course, I won't mix it ALL together but I thought I could find some combos there that are good.

I'm so old school with my smoothies. I just buy some frozen fruit packs and mix them with milk and ice. The sugar in the fruit is more than enough sweetener.

Two of my favourites:

1.5 cups lite cranberry juice
0.5 cups frozen fruit of your choice
1/2 block lite silken tofu (you can't even taste it)

or

1.5 cups chocolate milk/soymilk
1 frozen banana, chopped
1/2 block lite silken tofu

Mmmmm..... :)

I use the frozen fruit instead of ice cubes because I think the ice waters it down too much. Frozen strawberries, bananas, vanilla yogurt, maybe a little milk if it's too thick - quick and easy - and no need for sweeteners. :)

All of these sound SO good. We lost the little rubber ring for our blender, which has rendered it completely useless. Arggg!!!

You can get replacement gaskets from many places. Even from the store you bought the original blender from OR you can just contact the company online.

Thank you for the recipes, everyone. I guess what I've learned is 'just throw some good stuff in there and blend it'. :D

I used to work at Jamba Juice, but darned if i remember any smoothie receipes! All I know is that soymilk is very good in a creamy smoothie, or shake like smoothie. And frozen Fruit is the best way to go, more fruit than ice. Also frozen yogurt is very good.

For a Strawberry/banana smoothie the ingredients are

Nonfat frozen yogurt
Apple strawberry juice
frozen strawberries/ bananas sliced
ice

blend!
YOu'll have to play around with the measurments tho. >.<

I think I have it figured out. I put in about a cup of soymilk, about 1/4 cup plain yogurt, a dash of Splenda, frozen strawberries and blueberries, blend. It is so thick the straw stands up in it and it is good. This is a small serving as I can't eat too many carbs all at once. This recipe is perfect! I've also tried a tablespoon of orange concentrate and 1/2 banana in with the soymilk and yogurt.

This is what I make. I leave the ice cream out so I dont gain too much weight enjoying this drink!

Its a peach banana cooler! Its like a smoothie without the ice cream! I suppose that you could add ice cream to it if you wanted to!

You Need:

1/2 banana
1/2 cup peaches (canned)
1/2 cup peach juice (from canned peaches!)
1 tbsp sugar (add to taste if needed)
1/4 cup water
1 cup ice (crush the ice some first if you dont have a high power blender!)

Put everything into a blender and blend until smooth! Makes approx 16 oz!

YUM!

My aunts recipe that I love:

1 yogurt cup
1 banana
1 handful of frozen fruit
splash of orange juice

Blend and enjoy! The frozen fruit acts as enough ice for me and the banana and yogurt give it creaminess.

I just dump frozen fruit, Plain Yogurt, Milk and a few table spoons of sugar if the fruit is more of a sour kind. Really good that way

I love Smothies, so I bought a special blender at Wal-mart for $20.00 it works great.

My fav
Frozen peaches
Peach organic yougurt
honey
splash of Orange juice

I also like slushies
take a half of a can of frozen, lemonade, lime aid, or andfrozen juicemix
