I got bored and started making smoothies... Didn't like what was in my book, so I made my own recipe! This makes a fairly large amount. But no worries

What you will need:
Strawberries
Bananas
Kiwi
Orange
TOMATO (that's right, tomato!)
Blueberries
Western Family Vanilla Yogurt

Put in a blinder:
2 1/3 C. yogurt
1 1/3 C. strawberries
1 C. Banana (about one average size)
1/2 C. Blueberries (about 3 oz.)
3/4 C. Kiwi (about 2)
1 C. Tomato (with seeds and all, about 1 large tomato)
3/4 C FRESH pineapple
1/4 to 1/3 C. orange (make sure to test the flavor to ensure it's not bitter)

Blend all ingredients together. Then split into equal parts (I'll explain later ;) ). Take the first half an add an additional banana and 2/3 cup yogurt. Chill. Serve.

Second half... add banana and 2/3 cup yogurt.. and..... 1 cup BLACKBERRY MERLOT ;).. RAWR! It is not a really strong flavor so it rounds out well with the other berry flavors. 1/2 cup for less of a merlot flavor :).

For a frozen type smoothie you can either add ice and blend in, or put the mixture in ice cube trays and freeze then blend when frozen. for any extra you have freeze it in ice cube trays, when frozen place in plastic baggies and save for later use.

:neener:

PS.
If you end up with a bitter fruit (like I did this morning). add about 1/4 cup milk and 1/2 to 1 package vanilla pudding mix (powder)

Here's a link to a thread I started about a year ago. There are some good recipes there.

Fruit smoothies

But here's one I made today. I have some special dietary needs so I have to keep it low carb. I don't measure anything and I only have one of those Hamilton Beach 'personal' blenders. (about 16-20 oz mixer)

All measurements are guesstimates

1 cup water
3/4 cup frozen raspberries
Ice to fill the small blender
splash of soy milk
two individual packets of Crystal Light Raspberry ice drink powder
Optional: 1 tablespoon milled flax seed (I try to eat high fiber)

Blend it. I had to stop it and scrape the sides to keep it blending. It was pretty thick.

If you want a more subtle taste, use only one pack of the drink powder.
Ir was tasty and pretty low calorie, low carb.
