I noticed my chin Stitch has been folding his one ear back lately. The ear itself was more pink than normal, an than he is folding it back. Is that just a habit? Or it is a mood? Like he is angry that I take my other chin out 3 times a day (to handfeed). Or should I watch him for some other symptoms? He seems to be eating & pooping normal. thanks

Is it when he's sleeping? I notice mine do that when they're sleeping sometimes, and then the ear just gets pink from being pressed against their body.

I was concerned a while back because I had noticed my chin's ears folded back and hadn't realized this was normal when they had been sleeping or in tight quarters. Is that ear redder all the time or just when it's back?

When my chins wake up their ears are floppy and folded back. The are also a bit red. But them it disappears after a few minutes.

The ears get very warm when the chins sleep on them or with them against another chin. It's normal. They use their ears like little radiators to help keep them cool, when the heat transfer is impeded the ears wilt and look red even though the chin is just fine. The first time I saw it I freaked out and called around...and in 10 minutes Ingrid was normal again. Now, 11 years later she's still fine and still has red ears from time to time. :)

I have noticed this as well, some chins are just more "folded" than others. I would not be too concerned as long as the room is a cool temperature and there is nothing else wrong.

Minnie almost always sleeps against a corner, so she always wakes up with "sleepy ear" (what I call a chinnie version of bed head). One of her ears will be bent and a little redder, then it will go away.
