Is the fleece that they sell in the ferret section of pet stores safe for chins? Also, I need to get some wood shelves....what kind of wood can I get at Home Depot? Do I use regular nails & screws or special ones? I have to get the plastic shelves out of his cage.

and no the fleece in the ferret section isn't good for them.
Anti Pill Fleece and Blizzard Fleece you can use, they can be found at most fabric stores.
JoAnn Fabric usually has them on sale

Fleece is fleece. The problem with any thing you'll find in the petstore is that it won't be 100% fleece. It'll have nylon chords or vinyl backing. Your best bet is to make your own fleece items or buy from a vendor on the forum.

Yeah most of the items for sale at pet stores aren't actually safe, plus they are often 3x as expensive as getting them online or another store. Good luck!
