Fleece on floor of cage?

I have read here about people using fleece on the floor of their chin cages. I have some questions. Right now I use pine or aspen bedding with newspaper underneath.
Are there advantages to using fleece or toweling instead? How about keeping it clean? How often do you change it? Is there a problem with urine odor?
I guess you see the drift of my questions. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I love fleece, change it every 2-4 days, it can smell, but if you clean it it shouldn't smell, way cleaner cleaner than shavings personally, I take a quilt and a piece of fleece, works for me, but one of these kind of "fleece" threads come along it seems like alot that one that is linked above is the one i was thinking of.
