How often do you clean the fleece liners?what detergent will be safe to use? thanks for your time !

It depends on how many chins you have per cage. I generally change out my liners and wash them every 3 days. I use unscented detergent and vinegar.

I have three chins in a QC mansion and I change out the liner & pan every two days. I have four liners in total so I wash them about once a week and I use Nature's Miracle as the "detergent."

I change mine out 2, sometimes 3 times a week. (two chins per cage).

Wash, I've never really kept track but it's about once a week. I use Rockin green detergent. It's designed for cloth diapers. Works great on the liners.

I have 2 chins in a FN142 and I wash liners every Saturday! Once a week seems to work fine, but I do vaccum the poos every day! I use Tide!

Rhino only has one 'official' liner so far, and when that one is washing i just use a couple pieces of cut to fit fleece as a standby. i guess i wash liners and the other fleece about twice a week these days. have more fleece i could cut though, and then i'd be down to once a week fleece washing.

i pre-soak them in a bucket that has unscented store brand detergent in it, with a little touch of Borax. i get the water all nice and sudsy and plunk the liners in, then swirl and agitate them with a big metal kitchen spoon until my arms are ready to fall off, lol. then i let them soak for a few hours before i toss them in the wash with a load of towels on hot. haven't had a leftover pee stain yet!

i have read that fabric softener causes lesser absorbency of the fleece, but have had no issue with the dryer sheets i use - the odd Rhino pee accident on the fleece soaks right in no problem. the humidity in my place is quite low, so static is an issue, and not using the dryer sheets would mean Rhino gets a shock just about every time he is on his liner!

Great thanks for the info.I have 2chins in their own cages .so if I just use a store brand unscented detergent then that's ok for them...did you guys have any luck with litter box training them? I just got them liter boxes and some type of white clay bead that is supposed to go in the pan to help them go there. It worked perfect for our bunny and it would be great if the chins get the hang of it too.

I've only had Maci for less than a month, but I have been switching the liner every3 days or so. Although I think I could go longer as she uses her litter pan and I have never once noticed her liner wet at all. I vacuum poops at least once day.

My chinchilla was potty trained until I put fleece liners in, then that completely went out the window, lol. It's actually cleaner though this way, I don't have to deal with aspen bedding getting caught in his liners (which won't come out in the wash and I had to pick every bit of it out by hand). I might try again in the future, but for now this works for him and he's not very smelly at all.

Mine's potty trained too and I use pine litter to cut out the smell that aspen gives off when wet. The pine does stick to the liner, but if you have nails you can brush most of it off. Think of your chin eating whats in that potty dish when you pick your litter. Mine likes to eat the pine, especially after he wets it. Ugh.

My potty dishes are just that, food dishes meant for the table. If your pan is plastic you're going to run into nibbling issues and will want to look for something else. No plastic for the chin. The corner litter pan sold in pet stores for rabbits and ferrets in my area is plastic and has a grill to keep the rabbit off the litter. A chin can lift that grill out and most likely will to get at the litter. Mine digs in the litter a bit before using it. I recommend Pampered Chef medium square bowls from their simple solutions line with a fist full of pine litter per bowl. They're the perfect size for a chin and have some weight to them to prevent tipping. Plus they fit nicely in a corner. Chipper had a white one when I got him but it was cracked. I think that's why it became his. I replaced it with their colorfully striped ones and put the second one where he was wetting the fleece on the first level of the cage I built him, right under the other dish. That solved my fleece wetting problem. Here's the link to the bowls I use. Check eBay for deals to get them cheaper.

My fleece liners are cut to fit and I have enough sets to switch out each day of the week if I want. I switch out once or twice a week and use All Free & Clear to wash them when I do laundry on the weekend.
