Will be collecting two chins this week, new home is all ready and I'm armed to the teeth with info, can't wait to get have them.

The drive home with them will be just over 2 hours, will they be ok in a pet carrier for this length of time? We're having a heatwave in the UK at the moment so I was wondering what kind of temperature conditions should I recreate in the car for the little guys? If I have the air con on will this be too much for them?

Should I be providing them with anything in the carrier for a journey this long? Are they likely to urinate? Will this be ok for them to potentially sit in their urine for 2 hours?

Help needed :)

Two hours is fine. Just be sure they can't chew their way out of the carrier. They can be persistent little buggers. Throw in some hay or a couple wood chews. They might munch a bit, but most of my chins just sleep.

When we travel with chins we wear coats and blankets and blast the a/c for the chins. Just don't put them directly in front of the blower. Unless the temperature drops below 40 degrees, it isn't going to bother them. I never worry about it being too cold - I just worry about the heat.

yea, i had to do a 2-3h ride a few months ago when i moved. My 5 stayed pretty quite and not moving around much. I put some hay and what not in there for them but they didn't touch it rly.

I started the car and let the engine warm up a bit. Then i let the AC run until the car was cool down inside very well. After that i brought the chins out to it. With it already being cooled i could keep the AC on low just to keep the temp from going up. It also meant there was not much a breeze/draft coming from them.

Mean while, my heat loving self was in the front seat with a jacket on cold as ****.

When I picked up my second chin, the drive home was about 2.5 hours.
He had some hay in his carrier but that was it. He slept almost the entire way home. :)

Thanks for the help guys, they both had some hay and wood shavings and slept the entire way pretty much. I've had them home a week now and so far so good, both are settled well and enjoying new home, still yet to name them though... :/
