I have had my chinchilla for 2 weeks now. I took her to the vet because she squents on eye. Looks like she is winking at me. He said it could be a eye irration. And gave me some cream for her. She has finished her eye meds but it still looks like she is winking. is this normal. i have seen a few pictures of peoples chinchilla and they do it too. And sometimes. Not all the time it looks like she has eye **** in her eye too. They vet suggested me to change the bedding she had to carefresh. So i did that.

Yes, they wink. They squint when they're sleepy or sleeping and sometimes do "wink" but they're just moving their eyes. The eye goop might be from dust baths, my boys get like little eye crusties after they take their dusts. I wouldn't worry. The cream seems unnecessary to me, but someone may correct me on that.

If she had an infection the eye ointment may not have cleared it up. I have dealt with infections that I had to use several eye ointments before one would do the trick. Some eye infections may need to also be treated with an oral antibiotic. I have had the best luck with terramycin.

If she seems to be squinting the eye a lot and it still has goop, it sounds like the infection/irritation is still there.
