Hello everyone!
My name is Ashley, I'm canadian and the proud and sometimes frazzled mother to 4 mating pairs - Zapp Branigan (M,Std. grey) & Inigo Montoya (F, Std. grey), Leela Turanga (F, Violet) & Fezzek (M, **** beige), Marilyn Monroe (F, White mosaic) & Hermes Conrad (M, Black velvet), and Uno (M, Std. grey [inigo and zapps first baby]) & Zorro (F, XDrk Ebony). I'm also currently grandmother to 3 standard grey kits, all male: Romi, Fries, and Biggysmalls.

I'm breeding on a very small scale for the purpose of supplying my boyfriends petshop with sweet little bundles of fur that he makes sure go to good and knowledgable homes as well as trusted friends and family - though soon enough we'll be off to god knows where as he's entering the RCMP.

I've been doing well enough it would seem, no real horror stories for me, though some uncomfortable and anxious situations have come up, so in hope of gaining more knowledge and preventing any horror stories I've decided to glean every little bit of knowledge i can off of you folks and offer what little experience i have to those who need it!

Thanks very much for your future patience with me!
~Ashley

Pictures!

The first is Fezzek, my favorite little underdog, and the next one is his mate leela - she's a big girl, and fezzek is a tiny little thing next to her!

The next two are Hermes Conrad (blk velvet) and Marilyn Monroe (wht mosaic). Hermes is the resident badboy with an attitude problem, and Marilyn is his little platinum blonde <3

The last one is my first pair - it all started with Inigo montoya (left) and then came my mildly retarded little friend, Zapp Branigan!

+ pictures!

The first here is Uno (Inigo's first baby, and my introduction to breeding!) and his mate Zorro (Xdrk ebony), fastest chinchilla's in the west!

Philip J Fry is the recently departed brother to Fezzek. Such a sweet little boy, he died of an oversized heart... i can only hope that there was a little room for me in there, miss you boy, hope you're having a blast in chinnie heaven.

The last two are some of the other babies I've had, first Romi (Marilyn came to me pregnant) and second Biggy Smalls (Inigo and Zapps most recent)

Welcome to CnH! Glad you are here! I don't mean to sound rude but your chins do not look like they are breeding quality chins (I can't see the standards enough to really apply this comment to them so I am referring to all but them). Don't get me wrong, they are adorable, but they look smallish and their fur is not what I have come to expect from breeders from going to shows and what I would want as a pet owner. Zorro looks absolutely tiny to be breeding, how big is she, perhaps the picture is deceiving...Again, not trying to be rude though I know it sounds that way. I just think maybe you should talk to some of the breeders in your area and get advice or attend some shows before breeding so you have a better idea about breeding quality. Did you get your breeders from other reputable breeders and have their genetic history?

Sorry, I meant to also say that it is not a good idea to breed a chinchilla with possible heart defects in his line (his brother died from an oversized heart which I was very sorry to read). If it is genetic, Fezzek could be a carrier (or possibly have one as well) and you would be putting that gene into the collective gene pool of chinchillas which others have strived very hard to keep free of genetic defects. Just something to think about.

Welcome and your second chin in your second picture post, the really dark ebony is beautiful.
