I got a water buddy and my chin can't figure out how to use it, i have the super pet in there also because she knows how to use that one, but how do i encourage her to use the edstrom?

I have Edstrom Water Buddies, too. When I put them in the cage, I pressed the lever so there was a little water pooled around the valve. When they drank that water, they unavoidably manipulated the valve and they had it figured out! Keep on eye on the bottle for a while, though, to be sure the level is going down, indicating they are getting water from it. Some people rub a raisin on the valve to encourage them to mouth the valve. Try either way. I hope they get the hang of it, it is a very nice water bottle.

Neither of these have worked. What about unsweetened apple juice? i dont have any of that though so would unsweetened apple sauce work?

No I wouldn't use unsweetened apple sauce in a water buddy. The valve would not work correctly.

Unsweetened appleSAUCE? It WILL clog the valve as it is chunkier than juice. And a valve clogged with applesauce will grow some bacteria.

how about rubbing a bit of raisin guts around the opening? obviously you wouldnt want to maintain that for an extended time period, but it might get them to at least know how to get the water out.
