I was surprised to realize today that I'm actually homesick. Why?

There is no ham baking downstairs.

There was an egg hunt for the child, there are chocolate rabbits and jelly beans, I'll be sliding a gigantic bowl of (yuck!) egg salad out of my way in the fridge for the next week, I saw both a crocus and a robin in the yard yesterday, the sun is shining... but without that ham, it just doesn't seem like Easter to me.

What about you? What is your defining "I know it's Easter when..." moment?

Dyeing eggs!!! At age 58, I STILL enjoy doing it, and some of my friends still have children young/old enough to humor their old Auntie Lynn!!!

Hiding eggs for the kids is fun, but if you want to have a REALLY wild time, have the kids hide the eggs for the adults to hunt!!! Better count those eggs, though, because after a couple of glasses of wine, it gets even MORE fun!!! We've actually found an old egg left over from the year before a time or two!!!

:eggs: HAPPY EASTER!!! :eggs:

Well I spent Easter sleeping and now working so that my coworker, Sue, could enjoy a nice vacation in Mexico with her husband, mom and daughter! Easter is a difficult time for me as Lisa and I spent Easter together the past several years.

Our traditions as kids though, definitely dying eggs! OMG and then sometimes your egg salad might be a little "colored" LOL!

When we would hunt for our Easter Baskets dad would always give us warmer, warmer YOU'RE BURNING UP! lol!

We always dressed alike in matching Easter dresses when we were little, me, Lisa and Lynelle! Sometimes they were dresses made by Great Grandma Grove, sometimes they were store bought. We always had cute matching hats too! I loved it when we wore gloves too!

I traded Lisa my malted milk ball eggs for her black jelly beans! Still not a fan of malted milk balls after all these years.

I remember always watching The Sound of Music too--I'm sure that used to always be on during Easter.

Recent traditions have been seeing the Passion of the Christ performed at our church by a youth group here in Milwaukee. They do it all silently--very riveting.

As far as food goes--ham, cheesy hashbrown potatoes, cauliflower and peas with cheese sauce on them, buns with butter lambs and I always made the lemon meringue pie!

Ham dinner with Butter Lamb. Dying eggs, Easter basket in the morning. I made the Ham dinner last night but too many places to go today. I make a great gravy with Ham juice, sprite, cherry juice and pineapple It is my favorite food
