Hello, i'm a newbie and have a question. sorry if it has been asked before. I've searched but couldn't find a specific answer.

I've recently purchased a beige chin and during playtime his veins become visible in his ears. I suspect that is normal due to the exercise but just want to make sure that he is not getting too hot. He still runs and jumps as normal but i am still nervous about overheating. When they start overheating their ears turn red or pink. Is that their whole ear or do they start getting veiny? temperature is about 72.

thanks for any help.

72 degrees is borderline warm for a chin during playtime in my opinion. The veins becoming more visible means that he is probably getting hot. If you were to feel his ears when they are red during playtime, they will probably be warm, whereas they would be cool if he was not running around and in an appropriate temperature.

Congrats on your new chin and welcome to the forum!

I keep my room constantly at 65 degrees, and in certian lights I can see the viens in my chins ears, who are standards.

Yes but the OP was talking about dark veins easily seen. not in cetain lights. When chinchilla veins are very pronounced and easily visable (bright red/purple) it is a sign they are a little to warm. You can also see them sometimes after a chinchilla has been sleeping in a chinnie pile cuddled up but that is not what the OP was asking about...In this situation it sounds like the chinchilla was getting a touch too warm
