Ear problem?

Hi I'm new to the world of chinchillas. I got my first today from an old classmate that got it for her Kids for Christmas. He was more work than they wanted to put into it so she was getting rid of him. I noticed after getting him home that he has a small dry spot on his ear close to his head. We have rabbits and it doesn't look like ear mites, but I'm not sure with chinchillas.

Please help.

I can't see the pic sorry. I know some ppl use bag balm or vitamin E cream on dry feet and ears.
How often does he get a dust bath? Too many baths can cause skin dryness.

Does the dry spot look reddened or inflamed? Any flakiness?
