I noticed that my white/violet chin's ears look dry.
Is it ok if I leave the ears alone or is there something chin-safe that I can put on his ears? The chinchilla room is the coldest room in the whole apartment. And it's dry here too (I'm in the mid-west).

Chin ears sometimes can get dry in areas with low humidity or with excessive dusting. You can apply vitamin E oil to the ears to help moisturize them. The same can also be done to overly-dry foot pads.

Thanks. I'll try Bag Balm since I don't have vitamin E on hand.

Sometimes what looks like dry ears is just an accumulation of dust. I have tried gently washing off the ears with a baby wipe and discovered that was all it took. Putting on moisturizers could be a disaster when everything and anything sticks to the stuff. *shrug*

How could it be a disaster? It's not like you're putting gobs of stuff on it. Just a little bit on your finger, and rub it in. It's not going to be a big ordeal. The chin's fur behind the ear may get a little greasy, but that's all and nothing a dust bath can't handle.
