I've always wanted to go to Disneyworld, anyone have any advice for a single person?

I figure it will be a bonus in lines... but probably very expensive to get a hotel room. Do the make single hotel rooms?

Thanks ahead of time for any advise!

I went solo several years ago. I loved it. I do not recall a break on the hotel room..but I had been saving for a few years. I would suggest getting a length of stay or park hopper pass. They allow you to basically park hop during the day. You know...Magic Kindom during the day, then dinner and Illuminations at EPCOT at night. I'd also go for the Disney Dining Plan. That will save you money and maybe help offset the hotel fee. Definatly stay in the park...makes for a better experience.
I was often able to get a seat at dinner without reservations. Sometimes I would ask of there was another single diner wanting to share a table or something.
I met many cool people...either standing in line, or waiting for Parades and stuff..as I was more apt to start conversations with others being alone.

Tara, I PMed you regarding the hotel stay. While I can't help with any hotels inside the park, I may be able to help with a hotel right outside of it.

I've never been to Disneywrold, but have been to Disneyland many times. Not by myself of course. I do have 4 kids. I would love to take my kids to Disneyworld though. I would definitely say you should go though. You'll love it if it's anything like Disneyland in California.

disney visa (0% financing for 6mos, plus depending where you apply for it you'll get disney cash which you can use down there).

If you have any walking issues call randy's mobility and rent a electric scooter...you'll stand in a "priority" line for any of the disney bus transportation to the parks and downtown...plus MOST rides have a special entrance too which enables you to get on and off the rides much quicker than standing in line (learned of this due to sons leg injury).

As for room discounts with only one I doubt you'll have much luck find anything "cheap", but Pop century has a bit cheaper room tax compared to other on property resorts because they are on the border. Plus they are more centrally located to the parks and don't share transportation with other resorts when going to parks. Buses run approx. every 10-15minutes but will definately save you car rental costs.

There's may forums that will give you tips on saving money and info about current promos (the best promo I have yet to use is the free dining which I always upgrade for the few extra dollars per day to include a table service meal...always nice to have a sit down meal after a long day).

Here's a few links to read over if you've never been or have time to plan it out...
mousesavers, allearsnet, laughingplace, and passporter.net just to name a few.

and if you end up staying off disney property you can buy tickets from undercover tourists (they offer discounted tickets from time to time).

ps. if you want a fridge in the room and have any type of medical needs for say insulin they'll give you one in your room without charging you for it. Makes it nice because you can always keep a bottle drink cool to take with you in your backpack to start off the day..and if you purchase the flavor packs and are on a tight budget you can stop at a fountain and refill it with water and toss in your flavor pack to stay hydrated.

Disneyworld is the one in Florida right? I can never remember which one is which state.

The only advice I can give you is to pick a time when it's not "prime" season. Spring break season is big for college students, and April/May/June is pretty big for High School senior class trips. Thats where my school went.

I tell you this for two reasons...
1. So you don't have to deal with young obnoxious teens like myself.
2. Prices go up during peak times.

Thank you for the great ideas everyone! Looks like I may be putting it off until the fall/next spring as my brother just announced he is getting married in early May.

I kept telling him it needed to be somewhere warm and tropical - but looks like it's another trip to Seattle for me. :p
